The sport of pickleball, which has a name that takes some getting used to, moves into Warman for this weekend's provincial tournament.
It’s growing quickly in Saskatchewan, and elsewhere. Saskatoon Pickleball Inc. has more than 800 members right now, and Kirkpatrick estimates up to 2,000 people in the city are involved with the sport overall.
“You can play it as kids, you can play it all the way through your life,” Kirkpatrick says. “It really is a life-long sport. We’ve got young kids who are picking it up, and it’s really getting popular with the 18 to 34 crowd. It’s still something you can do as you age. Kirkpatrick says a recent Pickleball Canada survey revealed that two of its fastest-growing demographics are people aged 18 to 34, and women.
