A flood watch advisory was issued Sunday morning.
Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, Ocean and southeastern Burlington counties will be under the watch through Sunday evening, as thunderstorms cross southern New Jersey and bring an estimated 1 to 2 inches of rain. There is a possibility that some areas will see up to three inches of rain.
“You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings,” the National Weather Service said in a bulletin. “Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.” A flood watch advisory is issued when flooding may happen, and residents living in these counties should monitor the weather forecast in case risk for flash flooding increases. If a flood watch turns into a flood warning, residents should move to higher ground, according to the National Weather Service.
