School officials in Edison are creating a new committee focused on responding to allegations of sexual harassment and assault, after hearing from current and former students at a Board of Education meeting last month. The committee, which doesn’t have a name yet, is expected to have between 10 to 20 people, said Superintendent Bernard Bragen. It will likely include students, parents, and administrators, he said, although the specific details aren’t settled yet.
The district already has a process in place for students to report sexual harassment and assault allegations, Bragen said. But the new committee is intended to streamline and strengthen it.
