Markynn West, 29, was acting in self-defense, the Tarrant County criminal district attorney’s office said Friday.

“A review of evidence in the case shows that after a minor traffic accident and disagreement, Shin retrieved a handgun and pointed at those present,” the DA’s office said in a written statement. “West, in defense of himself and others, fired his weapon at Shin, resulting in Shin’s death.”, just south of Interstate 30.

An arrest-warrant affidavit said several people were beating the driver who caused the crash, and two people were pointing guns at each other. When officers arrived, they found Shin, wounded on the east side of the street. He was pronounced dead there.
