An isolated tornado wasn’t out of the question, said Sarah Johnson, the National Weather Service’s warning coordination meteorologist in Mount Holly, however no twisters were reported, and the storms have been moving through in a hurry. Around 6 p.m. Saturday, a thunderstorm was reported at the official city observation station at Philadelphia International Airport.Officially, lightning and thunder have been reported in the vicinity of the airport in 20 of the last 37 days days. The average for an entire year is 28.She added that so far the office, whose coverage area includes all of Delaware and most of New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania, has issued 252 severe thunderstorm warnings this year. That’s the most since 2019.
