ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The population is booming in St. Johns County — known as the second-fastest-growing county in Florida.
“I understand that a lot of people want to come to St. Augustine,” Stalcup said. “I know why because it is beautiful. But it’s getting full.” Between the 2018/2019 school year and the start of this school year, the St. Johns County School District added more than 6,000 students.According to the 2020 U.S. census, there was a 43.9% jump in the county’s population between 2010 and 2020.
“I’m heartbroken,” Boylan said. “The animals and trees are a resource, okay? Can we waste resources now, I don’t think so.”
