The case will decide if the conviction should be overturned for a Missouri man who has spent nearly three decades in prison for a murder that two other people later confessed to committing.

A hearing begins Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, in St. Louis to decide if the murder conviction for Johnson should be thrown out. Johnson has spent more than 27 years in prison for a killing that he said he did not commit.
Johnson claimed he was with his girlfriend miles away when Boyd was killed. Years later, the state’s only witness recanted his identification of Johnson and Campbell as the shooters. Two other men have since confessed and said Johnson was not involved.
