JUST IN: A 44-year-old man who went missing on a solo hike in Olympic National Park on Wednesday 'self-rescued' on Saturday, according to the National Park Service.

Hunter Fraser — who left his vehicle at the Deer Ridge Trailhead on Monday before embarking on a 40-mile, two-night backpacking trek — self-rescued "via the Dosewallips River Trail with the assistance of other hikers," the NPS said. "He was driven to Quilcene, WA where his family, park personnel, and medical responders met him."
Fraser, a California resident described as an “extremely experienced solo hiker," last texted his family Tuesday morning. He was supposed to return to Seattle by midday Wednesday but never returned. Olympic National Park notified the CCSO Fraser was overdue around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.A search and rescue team comprised of about 90 employees, volunteers and dogs, was activated, and officials conducted an extensive search around the area where his vehicle was located on Thursday.
