PERTH – Coal mining has started at the Broadmeadow East mine, in Queensland, ASX-listed Bowen Coking Coal reported on Thursday.
Coal from Broadmeadow East is planned to be initially processed at the neighboring Fitzroy coal handling and preparation plant under an infrastructure sharing agreement with Fitzroy, and exported through the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal.
Broadmeadow East’s first coal follows Bowen Coking Coal’s first coal shipment from the Bluff mine near Blackwater in June. First run-of-mine coal is targeted for late in the fourth quarter of 2022 from the nearby Burton pit as the company works towards five-million tonnes a year by 2024.
