Cissy Segall Davis will retire at the end of Miller's current 100th anniversary...
Miller Outdoor Theatre's longtime managing director will get a superstar sendoff when she retires later this year.Cissy Segall Davis, who has worked at Miller for 14 years, will be honored during the theater's Nov. 16 gala at the River Oak Country Club. The evening will feature Broadway and Hollywood legend Rita Moreno, who is one of only 18 people to achiever EGOT status for winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.
Segall Davis will retire at the end of Miller's current 100th anniversary performance season. She became managing director of Miller's advisory board in 2008, overseeing day-to-day operations and a grants program for local performing arts and community organizations. Davis oversaw the annual seasons of free performances at Hermann Park that welcomed all Houstonians.
"It is not easy to walk away from a job that has been career-defining and one that I have absolutely loved and that has provided me the opportunity to follow my passion every day. But knowing when to exit is part of show business," Segall Davis says."It's time to pass the torch and offer someone else the chance to bring a new perspective and make an impact on this program."
Segall Davis served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations including Greater Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau, Theatre Under The Stars, Texas Institute for Arts in Education and Congregation Beth Israel.
