Michael Bay is now facing charges related to the alleged death of a pigeon in Italy.
Italian authorities claim that a homing pigeon was killed by a dolly in the middle of a take on Bay’s 2019 Netflix blockbuster,The director, who has reportedly attempted to clear the case multiple times, denied the allegation in a statement to the outlet. “I am a well-known animal lover and major animal activist,” Bay said. “No animal involved in the production was injured or harmed. Or on any other production I’ve worked on in the past 30 years.” , Bay isn’t taking the accusations lightly.
In Italy, it is illegal to harm, kill, or capture any wild bird, including pigeons, which are a protected species in the EU under. As previously reported, an anonymous on-set individual apparently witnessed the killing, snapped a photo, and took it to Italian authorities. But Bay said he has footage that clears his name. “We have clear video evidence,” he said, “a multitude of witnesses, and safety officers that exonerates us from these claims.
