Bear, the newest employee at the Children’s Specialized Hospital's long-term care facility in Toms River.Earlier this week, the 21-month-old English cream golden retriever flew from Georgia to New Jersey to become the newest staff member at Children’s Specialized Hospital.will provide special canine therapy to pediatric patients, their families and staff at the hospital’s long-term facility in Toms River.
Children’s Specialized Hospital serves children from newborns to 21 year olds with complex medical needs requiring round-the-clock nursing care. Bear — raised at Patient Paws Service Dogs training facility, a nonprofit organization in Alpharetta, Georgia — has been specially trained to provide support in a health care environment.
