Dr NeilSkolnik talks with physician-musician Dr jeremyfaust about how he balances a love of music and a busy emergency medicine career.

at Symphony Hall in September 2022. I got the chance to lead one of the great masterworks of the 20th century.I love Stravinsky. I could give a half hour on Stravinsky. When I look at that clip, I love the players. I love how Stravinsky has written something thrilling to the audience and to the ear. But every single player is doing something in harmony and concinnity — harmony with respect to the whole. That is what makes great music.

I couldn't find anything that captured that moment, because on one hand, what had happened was extremely sad, but it was also a moment of hope and optimism. So I asked whether I could compose something.text from the Old TestamentLo, the winter has passed, the rain is over and gone…the time of the singing of birds is come.

We had just been through this terrible winter and it was time to get together again. I took that phrase and set it to music, and this is what happened. That's a fantastic piece, and clearly a lot of clinicians took the time to work on this with you. Why do you think so many people wanted to give their time to this?of the art; youthe art. It's your voice and other voices. Together you create that art. You can't jump inside of a Leonardo.
