Visiting family over Christmas and his new niece, San Diego State senior guard Matt Bradley agreed to take his sister’s puppy. The responsibility, the unconditional love, the quirky personality of the furball, he admitted, helped him refocus and untrack his season after a slow start.

Turns out, he didn’t need her. Bradley emerged from his slump in a big way, making his first four shots and scoring 11 points in the opening six minutes. He finished with 21 in SDSU’s dramatic 72-71 win against Florida Atlantic at the Final Four, his most since he had 23 at UNLV on Dec. 31 — 25 games ago.“I was the main person who believed I wasn’t going to have this type of game,” Bradley said. “It’s everyone in my corner, from parents on the team, to teammates, to coaches.
