A town in Ghana was rocked by a huge explosion Thursday that sent several people to the hospital, the authorities said.

A preliminary investigation has determined that the explosion appears to have been caused by a mining vehicle carrying explosives, traveling from Tarkwa to the Chirano mines, colliding with a motorcycle, police said.Police said a mining explosive vehicle collided with a motorcycle and exploded, completely wrecking the small town of Apietse, in the western part of Ghana, Jan. 20, 2022.
First responders and residents scrambled to find victims, with some using construction vehicles to clear debris.
