Mary Jane Theis Faces Retention Vote Amid Battle for Control of Illinois Supreme Court
While voters in the second and third districts will choose between Democratic and Republican candidates on their ballots, Cook County voters will instead face a retention decision, with Chief Justice Mary Jane Theis running for a fresh 10-year term on the bench.
The chief justice received her law degree from the University of San Francisco’s School of Law in 1974, and worked as an assistant public defender in Cook County before being appointed an associate judge on the Cook County circuit court in 1083.
