The studio will shoot scenes for its upcoming film “Blade” in November,can confirm. The movie, a reboot of the franchise made famous by Wesley Snipes in the late 1990s, stars Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali as the titular vampire hunter and is being directed by Bassam Tariq . The film is scheduled to be released on November 3, 2023.
Not much is known about the production, which is set to become the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but a casting call sent out by Angela Boehm Casting provides some clues. The crew will be in town for at least nine days from Nov. 14-22 and will require extras of all ages, races and ethnicities.
That was the case on “The Avengers,” which shot scenes on Public Square and on E. 9th Street in 2011, and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” which filmed sequences in Tower City, on Superior Ave. and the Shoreway in 2013, though both productions spent significantly more time here than the nine days “Blade” is scheduled to be in Cleveland.
In each instance, producers and location managers were drawn to the city by the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit and through the work of the Greater Cleveland Film Commission. For people interested in being hired as an extra, the casting director is currently looking for men and women ages 18 to 100. Filming last 10 to 12 hours per day.
