Marvel has seemingly given CaptainAmerica a new power. In Secret Invasion 2, Maria Hill reveals her agents are packing special ammo, and that 'the right round can pierce even your flesh.' It seems Marvel considers cap immune to most regular gunfire.
Warning: SPOILERS for Secret Invasion #2Marvel's Captain America has an all-new superpower, and it's highly likely Marvel gave it to him by accident. Steve Rogers is one of the most important characters in comics, hailing from the Golden Age of the medium and persisting in popularity all the way to the present day. His powers are relatively mundane, but Secret Invasion #2 grants him a new resistance in such a way that he may no longer need his famous shield after all.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Captain America's powers are quite limited; compared to superstrong characters like the Hulk or technologically-powered geniuses like Iron Man, Steve Rogers' powerset only includes enhanced strength, speed and agility. His powers do not break the laws of physics and while his sped-up metabolism allows him to heal faster than an average human, he cannot utilize a healing factor like Wolverine, hence his ubiquitous shield.
Captain America Has Luke Cage-Like Skin Now With this line, Maria Hill is insinuating that Captain America's skin is more durable than that of the average human - but that has never been the case before in comics. Indeed, in the 2022 Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty series, Steve Rogers is shot in the shoulder by Bucky Barnes .
Hill's countermeasures are all for nought, as Black Widow is revealed to be the Skrull, and a woman with no superhuman abilities is relatively easy to defeat for the SHIELD team. Unfortunately, she's not alone: Iron Man is also a Skrull, and found a way to bypass the blood test. If Captain America does indeed have enhanced durability, he'll surely need it during the new Secret Invasion event.
