Mark Finchem says he'll ask an appeals court to consider his case that argues fraud cost him the Arizona secretary of state race.

Mark Finchem has filed a notice of appeal to his losing election challenge, which a court rejected Dec. 16.

Finchem, a Trump-endorsed Republican, lost his bid for secretary of state to Democrat Adrian Fontes in the Nov. 8 general election by more than 120,000 votes. In his election challenge, he alleged misconduct by Secretary of State Katie Hobbs and asked a judge to order a do-over of the election. He also blamed Hobbs for the suspension of his Twitter account in late October, but provided no evidence.

During the Dec. 16 hearing, McCauley openly speculated that he might face loss of his legal license for bringing the case to court, but dismissed any concern about that, as he is near retirement. The notice of appeal gives no details on the grounds for an appeal. As of late Friday morning, nothing had been filed with the Arizona Court of Appeals, records show.
