Maybe it’s easier for new people not to be entering the machine of the band. But I think part of it honestly came down to being in a place personally where I wanted to feel free and create expressively, and really to resist the urge for too many boundaries and restrictions around the writing process. For the first time, I wrote with people outside of the band. I’ve never really written with anyone outside the band.’s band, I hadn’t worked with women for a long time.
