A 28-year-old man who was hang gliding crashed into the side of Black Mountain in the Rancho Peñasquitos area and suffered serious injuries Sunday evening, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 5:50 p.m. on the north side of the mountain, off Glider Point Trail, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. Firefighters hiked to the man, and a fire helicopter crew hoisted him onto the aircraft and flew him to a hospital for treatment.
