Man sentenced to 7 years in prison for murder of woman on Carlsbad hiking trail [Breaking]
Police said Thorborg had been fatally stabbed, but no motive for the killing was disclosed. Testimony at earlier hearings indicated Thorborg had not been robbed or sexually assaulted.
A detective testified at a hearing in late 2020 that the then-teenager’s flipflops were found near the crime scene andwas found on Thorborg’s clothing. Video surveillance footage captured a boy resembling the defendant running away from the area about 15 minutes after Thorborg was believed to have been stabbed.
Police said they contacted the defendant in December 2020 as he was peering over fences and looking into parked cars in the area.
