Gary police are investigating the death of a Hispanic man with a gunshot wound to the back.
Gary Police Spokeswoman Lt. Dawn Westerfield said in a release that officers responded at around 12:03 a.m. to the 3250 of Van Buren Place for a gunshot victim. They found at the scene a Hispanic man with a gunshot wound to the back, she said.The man was identified as Luis Alberto Acuna, 48, of Valparaiso by a release from the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
Officers also found at the scene an open door and a window with what appeared to be a bullet hole at a neighboring residence, Westerfield said. Officers didn’t find any other victims at that scene.The Lake County Coroner’s office declared the man dead at the scene, Westerfield said.
