Man crashes, suffers life-threatening injuries in Encanto [Breaking]
An 80-year-old man who has dementia suffered life-threatening injuries Sunday when his car was involved in back-to-back crashes in the Encanto neighborhood, police said.
The man, who was driving a 2011 black Toyota Yaris, backed out of his driveway and struck his neighbor’s wall on Leghorn Avenue near Varney Drive, then proceeded north on Leghorn, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said. The man then failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Leghorn and Skyline Drive, where his car hit a vehicle headed west on Skyline. The man continued north on Leghorn Avenue.The crashes were reported around 12:25 p.m.The man’s injuries included a fractured left femur, serious internal bleeding, lacerations to his head and a possible re-fracture of a previous pelvic fracture.
