A man who police say opened fire on a Haltom City police officer was arrested early Tuesday in Fort Worth, authorities said.
The driver led officers on a chase before stopping about 2 miles west in the 2700 block of Northeast 28th Street in Fort Worth, police said, then got out of the vehicle and fired a rifle at an officer. The gunman ran as officers returned fire. Fort Worth police officers arrested the man, who had a “minor injury to his upper body” that police said appeared to have been caused by a round fired by an officer. Detective Matthew Spillane, a Haltom City police spokesman, said it was a graze wound.
The man, whose name has not been released, faces three counts of aggravated assault against a peace officer and one count of evading arrest. More charges are likely, police said.
