Authorities said a 39-year-old man forged 18 checks meant for a vendor of a Pennsylvania-based Ronald McDonald house.
A Georgia man is accused of stealing tens and thousands of dollars from the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown, W.Va.If you’re unfamiliar with Ronald McDonald House Charities, it provides families with a “home away from home” for seriously ill children receiving medical treatment., authorities said 39-year-old Albert Sams, who’s from the Atlanta, Georgia area, forged 18 checks meant for a vendor of the Ronald McDonald house.
Court documents say that Sams, a UPS employee, electronically duplicated the checks, signed them to his name and cashed them – for a total of nearly $86,000.. Hoopsick told the station she drives from Erie to Pittsburgh multiple times a week so that her son can get chemotherapy treatments. “To stay here is a blessing that you don’t have to worry about where your kids are, who’s taking care of your kids, how you’re going to get back and forth,” she said to the station.
