Gustavo Monteiro, 27, was wanted by police in Bayonne, New Jersey on a charge of aggravated robbery with a weapon, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Monteiro as he sat in a vehicle outside of a gas station near the 13100 block of Larchmere Boulevard.
Police say Monteiro stole a purse from a 64-year-old woman in November 2021. As he drove off, he dragged her several feet, causing her to fall and hit her head on the pavement, police say.Agents reportedly found Monteiro with a loaded handgun with an extended magazine. He will be held in the Cuyahoga County Jail until he can be extradited to New Jersey.
