William Hildenbrand of Berlin Heights was killed in the crash in Berlin Township in Erie County, according to the State Highway Patrol.
BERLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — An 80-year-old man was killed Sunday night in Erie County when he was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross a highway.
According to the State Highway Patrol, William Hildenbrand of Berlin Heights was trying to cross Ohio 61, a two-lane highway, near Driver Road at about 9:34 p.m. when he was hit by a 2021 Toyota Corolla driven by a 23-year-old woman from Huron. The Toyota’s driver was not injured in the crash. She was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol says. The crash closed Ohio 61 in both directions for about two hours.
