The Saskatchewan Rush have traded prolific scorer Mark Matthews to the Toronto Rock for a first\u002Dround pick, a forward and a defender.
The deal sends Matthews closer to home after 10 seasons with the Rush. In exchange, Saskatchewan gets a 2023 first-round draft pick, forward Zach Manns and defender Adam Jay.“I’ve been doing this job for a long time and difficult decisions are often made, but this one is on a whole different level,” Rush general manager Derek Keenan told saskrush.com. “Mark Matthews is the best player in franchise history, period.
The 33-year-old Matthews was second in Rush scoring this past season, and 14th on the overall league list, with 25 goals, 73 assists and 98 points in 18 games.Article content
