Match made in heaven: Why the Texans wanted DeMeco Ryans and he wanted them

But Ryans stood out above the rest, said Caserio and Texans CEO and chairman Cal McNair. He was the entire package. They talked about his philosophy, leadership and strategy, how he would make halftime adjustments, and more. When they watched San Francisco beat Dallas two days later, McNair and Caserio saw all that come to fruition.
For Ryans, it was simple. The Texans head coaching position was indeed a “dream job,” he said, but he never expected to be here until it became available. “When the Texans popped up, of course my wife was going crazy,” he told the Chronicle. “Just knowing you have the opportunity to go home, it just doesn’t happen that way.
