Logan Lerman has this to say about making a cameo in the Percy Jackson series: 'I mean... it's an interesting question because, could you? I mean... Sure. But I'm not.'
In a recent red carpet interview, Logan Lerman addresses the rumors about making a cameo appearance in the new Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and his reaction has stirred up even more speculation. After announcing production on the new Rick Riordan adaptation, fans were excited but hesitant to learn that the beloved series is getting a second chance. The original film franchise received heavy criticism for veering too far from the novels.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY The release of Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief in 2010 earned impressive numbers at the box office but did not earn strong audience approval. Many fans loved the young trio made up of Lerman, Brandon T. Jackson as Grover, and Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth, but strongly disliked how the story was changed for the film. A second film, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, was released in 2013, but the planned third film in the franchise was canceled.
Some are comparing Lerman's response to Andrew Garfield's denial of his Spider-Man: No Way Home participation. In the last few years, cameo performances have become a common strategy to garner curiosity about a specific title and get more sales at the box office or streams from at-home viewers. Marvel Studios has been a repeated offender of this strategy, and Disney could use the cameo tool in franchises like Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
