It’s unclear if Jordan would honor the decision, but if a majority of the conference says he should end his campaign, it is likely he would have to follow the directive.
Afterward, Republicans are expected to vote on a resolution that would temporarily give powers to Speaker Tempore Patrick T. McHenry . The resolution became a contentious point of debate during their Thursday conference meeting. It would also have to receive a majority vote for Republicans to put it on the House floor. Democrats are expected to support the measure so that the House can begin legislating again.
