But Corpus Christi Calallen desperately wanted to make some history of its own.
Calallen claimed the throne after finishing as the 5A runner-up in 2019 and losing to the same to Liberty program in the 4A title game in 2021. Calallen cut into the deficit in the bottom of the frame as Alaunah Almaraz drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. But the Wildcats really did some damage in the fourth inning.
