We celebrate her being the first woman in space, but I found it disappointing that in the middle of Pride month, the article was not more forthcoming about the fact that she was also a lesbian.
Tam O’Shaughnessy, Ride’s life partner of more than 25 years was mentioned, but the average reader might not know that she is also female.I’m incensed by the Republican law against providing water breaks for construction workers. The justification for the law is it eliminates a “patchwork” of local regulations. Any company that can organize a construction site can manage 10-minute breaks every few hours.
It is clear no regulator who voted for this law has ever supported their families by working in the Texas sun.My wife and I moved here in 1970, and in all the years since there has only been one year that we have not been on water restrictions. I have been trying since 1998 to get SAWS to go to the coast and build a couple of desalination plants to eliminate the need for restrictions. Instead, it has frittered away hundreds of billions of dollars buying water from other areas.
