A homeless camp beneath U.S. 281 is cleared in 2021. A reader is worried about the potential for more homeless camps to appear in San Antonio.I can remember when the college football bowl season was a celebration of athletic excellence. In a little more than a decade that perception has vanished.
The 80 bowl teams averaged eight wins and 4.6 losses — a 37 percent loss rate. Forget gridiron excellence. The vast majority of bowl invitations have become nothing more than participation trophies. Awards for mediocrity. Seems every bit as sensible as paying lousy coaches millions to just go away.I imagine it started slowly in Seattle and Denver. Now in Denver, homeless people squat along whole blocks of neighborhoods. In Seattle, they have communities under the freeways.
