Schools are funded through attendance, prompting one reader to suggest a plan to benefit students, schools and communities.Re: “Will Legislature deliver better school funding?” Another View, Thursday:
Currently, we are paid on the number of students at school each day. If they are absent, we do not get the funds from the state. Poor attendance is a contributing cause of lower standardized test scores, poor student achievement and an overall negative effect on our community.
