The suit alleges a history of criminal sexual behavior in which the owner was complicit.
Michael Spiller, a gymnastics coach, was arrested on suspicion of indecency with a child, Kendall County officials said.
“On multiple occasions, as recent as 2020, concerns of physical and sexual contact with minor children at the Boerne Gymnastics center has been brought to Lorna Spellman and Boerne Gymnastics’ attention, only for those concerns to be brushed under the rug and disregarded,” the suit reads. “Boerne Gymnastics and Spellman continued to provide Michael Spiller access to minor children, including despite actual notice of his inappropriate behavior.
The lawsuit mentions another sexual assault allegation involving a minor occurring in 1983 at a sleepover at a gymnastics camp, as well as another sexual assault with another minor in the early 2000s.Apart from Spiller, the lawsuit links Spellman to convicted sex offender and San Antonio resident Paul Hengel, who sexually assaulted a minor in 2005.
