In the meantime, Kroger and Albertsons, which in addition to Tom Thumb also owns local Market Street stores, are moving ahead with each company’s remodeling and expansion plans.
The 122,000-square-foot Kroger store will have 34,000 square feet of additional space for services and restaurants plus three one-acre pads, Palmer said. The new Kroger store isn’t far from an H-E-B store under construction in far north Fort Worth at Heritage Trace Parkway and North Riverside Drive. The H-E-B store is in about midway between the new Kroger and an existing one on N. Tarrant Parkway.
