The caucus is already abuzz about who will replace retiring No. 3 Democratic leaderof Michigan and Klobuchar’s possible ascension to that spot, according to a person briefed on internal conversations.
Approached in the Capitol, Klobuchar declined an interview request for this story. Her spokesperson Jane Meyer said in a statement: “There is always a lot of gossip in the hallways of Congress. I can tell you 100 percent that the senator is focused on one and only one thing: her work.” One Senate Democrat said Klobuchar has “all the credentials and leadership skills” to continue climbing if she wants to.
