A Kentucky man was sentenced to 50 years in prison for murdering his girlfriend's daughter after pleading guilty in late May, according to a Fox affiliate.
Joseph Zieler, who was convicted in two 1990 murders in Florida, threw an elbow at his attorney during a hearing to request a re-trial. Dakota Hill pleaded guilty in late May to the murder of Serenity McKinney, who was 4-years-old at the time of her death. She was reported missing in February 2022 by her maternal grandfather after several relatives hadn't seen the girl since Dec. 24, 2020, according to Fox affiliate WDRB.
According to the report, Hill was sentenced to 50 years in prison and under Kentucky law will come up for parole after spending 20 years in state custody, but Bullitt County Commonwealth's Attorney Bailey Taylor said that the chances of him being granted parole are"slim and none."
