“I know that conversation has been ongoing but I was hoping we could wait a little longer and talk about it more closely to the legislative session, but it is what it is,” the governor said about the controversial topic.

The company makes fiber cement siding and other products. The company expects the expansion to make the Prattville plant the largest in James Hardie’s global network.
The company will have at least 400 employees after the expansion. There are more than 300 workers at the plant now. The first product was produced in February 2021.
