With Nov. 8 days away, Karen Bass and Rick Caruso ramped up public appearances with no sign of slowing down.
during their visits to L.A. to promote the Biden Administration’s infrastructure program and to push for Proposition 1, a state ballot measure that would protect abortion rights in the state by enshrining it in the California Constitution. While not official campaign events, these moments gave her an opportunity to show off her Democratic bonafides.
The campaign of Karen Bass for Mayor of Los Angeles holds a rally a rally in Playa Vista on Thursday, October 27, 2022. He’s spent the past couple of weeks often holding town halls or going on “community walks” to meet and speak with firefighters – the union representing L.A.’s firefighters and emergency medical personnel has endorsed Caruso – small business owners, Valley residents and Latino voters in neighborhoods like East L.A.’s Lincoln Heights and Boyle Heights, where his grandparents settled when they immigrated to the U.S. On Friday, he visited the Boys & Girls Club in Lincoln Heights.
“You’re going to see a lot of retail campaigning from Rick — being out on the street, meeting with people directly,” Ragone said. “You will see the campaign highlighting the differences between and on homelessness and who’s best to solve that problem.”Veteran political strategist Bill Carrick sees a difference in the two candidates’ approaches to campaigning in these final days.
“On the other hand,” Carrick said about Caruso, “he can do all these community walks and visits and little town halls because he doesn’t have the same need for media advertising. He’s not looking for free media because he’s got plenty of paid media.”
