Vice President KamalaHarris's communications director set to depart after nearly a year
Simmons, a veteran Democratic messaging operative, joined Harris’s team in January following months of staffing tumult that saw the exits of several high-profile communications aides.Harris’s chief of staff Lorraine Voles announced Simmons’s departure in an email to staff, saying that he had “agreed to come on board for a year.”
Voles thanked Simmons for his leadership and praised his work, saying she “knew he could help me steady the ship” when she recruited him.Voles said Simmons’s wife had recently accepted a new position in New York. He has young children, she said, and the family intends soon to move to the city.Voles appeared to indicate that the administration had not yet selected a replacement for Simmons.
