Jury convicts Akron man of fatally shooting woman during attempted robbery
AKRON, Ohio — An Akron man accused of shooting and killing a 27-year-old woman during a botched robbery in 2020 was convicted by a Summit County jury Wednesday of murder and other charges.
Prosecutors say Omenai shot and killed Tiffany Rhea, 27, of Akron, on Jan. 22, 2020, in East Akron. Rhea and her boyfriend, Johnathan Armstead, arranged to meet Tyler Johnson, 28, of Akron, just after 4 p.m. but were instead met by Omenai, authorities say. Omenai fired several times, killing Rhea, authorities say. Armstead drove Rhea to Summa Akron City Hospital, where she died of her wounds. No other injuries were reported.
