The early voting period runs from May 30 to June 6. Sixteen locations will be open in Dallas County, including nine in Dallas.
Gracey, a first-time candidate, has previously worked for the city, has been an advisor for Thomas and has been endorsed by the incumbent. Tave is seeking his first election to the City Council in his fifth attempt. He previously ran for a council seat in 1999, 2007, 2015 and 2017. Gracey received 46% of the vote and Tave got about 26% in their five-person race.
The District 3 contest is the only Dallas City Council race voters didn’t decide in May, when they reelected the mayor and all eligible incumbents, and elected a new representative to an open seat for northeast Dallas’ District 10..
