House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) said Tuesday that his committee conducted a transcribed interview with a whistleblower from the FBI as his panel probes the alleged politicization of the Justice Department.
HOUSE GOP'S 'WEAPONIZATION' COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES FIRST HEARING
At least a dozen FBI whistleblowers have spoken to Republican lawmakers in recent months about what they’ve described as partisan activity among federal law enforcement. Jordan chairs a subcommittee aimed at investigating the"weaponization" of the federal government, which Speaker Kevin McCarthy approved during his fight for the gavel.
It was not immediately clear whether the interview that took place Tuesday morning was related to the weaponization subcommittee, which is set to hold its first hearing this week, or activity within the House Judiciary Committee.House Judiciary Republicans have also eyed FBI whistleblowers in their investigation of the classified document sagas surrounding both former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.
Jordan has pressed the Justice Department on why the investigation into Trump’s mishandling of classified documents appeared far more aggressive than the investigation into Biden’s seemingly similar misstep.
