Two sources familiar with the deal, which hasn’t been confirmed publicly, tell Bloomberg that Netflix will stream Depp’s film in France. Set to shoot this summer, the movie is reportedly slated to premiere in French theaters next year before hitting the streamer 15 months later. The title will not be available on Netflix in other territories.who is also costarring alongside Depp as King Louis XV’s last mistress, Jeanne Bécu.

News that Depp’s next movie will stream overseas is a signifier of his persistent influence in Europe. Both the Karlovy Vary and San Sebastian film festivals paid tribute to the actor and his career last year. Speculation has abounded regardingthat a single industry acknowledgment could reopen the floodgates. “I think it’s just going to take one studio hiring him,” the source said.
