The legislation will now be sent to President Joe Biden’s desk to sign.
Announcing the deal immediately after Senate Republicans backed the CHIPS bill left many GOP lawmakers with egg on their faces. Sen. Kevin Cramer said that Republicans’ support for key pieces of Biden’s legislative agenda amounts to a “branding calculation” so that the Republican Party does not become viewed as a party of gridlock.
