The full performance schedule is slated to be: Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Dec. 4 at 1 p.m.; Dec. 9 at 7 p.m.; Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.; Dec. 15 at 7 p.m.; Dec. 16 at 7 p.m.; Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.; Dec. 21 at 7 p.m.; Dec. 22 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Dec. 24 at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.; Dec. 26 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Dec. 27 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The Joffrey’s “Nutcracker” was recently adapted anew by choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and librettist Brian Selznick, re-imagining the coming-of-age tale as a Chicago story, moving the setting from a Victorian living room to a small house in Jackson Park on the edge of the 1893 World’s Fair under construction. The ballet is still set to Tchaikovsky’s classic score, with live music performed by the Lyric Opera Orchestra, conducted by Scott Speck.
