The Paramount+ adaptation, from creators John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle, picks up a year after the events of Season 1, which involved a proposed pipeline, a real estate scam and the discovery of weasels — of both human and animal variety — all of it culminating in a showdown that nearly wiped out Joe’s family and resulted in him and wife Marybeth losing a pregnancy.
The couple’s quietly persistent grief throughout Season 2 is in the air they breathe. But there are children to be raised and tickets to be issued for fishing without a license. And so life goes on, a yellow lab sitting shotgun as Joe makes his rounds.
